 Watching Music Videos

1) Bite

  • Song: Bite by Troye Sivan 
  • Jenna Sivek, Kyla Rudd, Hunter Thompson
  • Mood 
  • eerie  
  • The shots of the lips moving alone, and what the girl was writing with the nail polish.
  • The lipstick, and lip sync shots as a whole.
  • Inconsistent shots, some looked really good, and others were a little low quality.
  • 8.5 (great)

2) Mad Hatter

  • Song: Mad Hatter by: Melanie Martinez 
  • Madi Chaney, Gianna Peralli, Gina Pagnotta 
  • Narrative 
  • There is a girl that is different from everyone else. She turns everything into color, and is fighting against conformity. Everyone else is colorless and represent conformity. Eventually the girl escapes and can be colorful without being judged.
  • When the song talks about being crazy the colorful girl is one screen, and when it talks about her friends, the white people are on screen.
  • The costume of the singer
  • Similar costumes for the colorless actors

3) Go Love Yourself

  • Narrative
  • The girl is full of herself, and is sending a bunch of snapchats to this guy. The guy is kind of getting over all of the social media wave, and starts ignoring her by deleting snapchat. The girl persist by texting him, so the guy ends up throwing his phone in a lake.
  • The girl keeps taking selfies when the song talks about loving yourself, when the song talks about getting over a person the guy is on the screen.
  • The selfies the girl was taking made a lot of sense with the song.
  • The shots were a little long and repetitive.

4) White Iverson

  • Living the good life, very rich, and confident.
  • When he is playing basketball in all white outfit, and when he is on top of the car in slow motion.
  • The outfits 
  • More variety of shots, other than basketball.

  • 5) House of Memories Student Music Video

    • House of Memories By Panic! At The Disco

    • Narrative
    • There is a man who lost someone, I think his wife, and he is looking back at all of the memories in grief. The memories start getting very intense,  start to consume him. At the end someone comes to the house of the guy. Maybe the wife I think.
    • When the song talks about the memories, and the shots show the guy going through pictures. Also when the song talks about the house, and there are shots of the house of the guy.
    • How they stuck the pictures all over the walls worked well.
    • The lighting was a little spotty; there was some flashlight shots, and some natural light shots.

    6) You've Got A Friend In Me Project

    • You've Got A Friend In Me by Randy Newman and Lyle Lovett

    • happy, hopeful, comforting
    • How they were happy together, but sad alone. Also how they help each other not be as sad.
    • The way they transition from black and white when they are alone, and color when they are together. 
    • The shaky camera was annoying.

    • Mood (with narrative elements)
    • Sad, Hopeless
    • The scene tint, and the sad acting.
    • One thing that worked really well was the camera quality.
    • The cut in the song was something that they could have improved.
    • 9 (Amazing) 

    8) Music Video

    • Nicole Slade, Caleb Vanriper, Hannah Vicars
    • mood
    • on top of the world, living the good life
    • The fact that the guy has enough money to have 2 phones, and that the guy is dancing and having a good time.
    • One thing that worked was the quality of some of the parking lot shots.
    • The shots were pretty incoherent.
    • 6 (Alright)

9) Fight For Your Right Music Video

  • Fight For Your Right by: The Beastie Boys
  • Michael Griffion, Blake Fox
  • Mood
  •  Party, Energetic, up-beat
  • The party, and all of the people laughing (especially when they are on the coach).
  • How they got everyone together, and made them collaborate well.
  • Cutting the video a little better, and using more footage.
  • 6.5 (Kinda Good)

10) Music Video Project - Erase Me

  • Erase Me by: Kid Cudi
  • Jacob Bontregor, Kyle Clark, Kevin Bass, Alan Pissarenko
  • Mood
  • A very diluted feeling of wanting to run away from school.
  • When the guy is running, and when he is outside of the school.
  • The way that they did the credits was really creative compared to the other ways that videos have been making credits.
  • Better storyboard planning.
  • 6.5 (Kinda Good)
