Propaganda in Politics

1) Bandwagon: Makes it seem like a lot of people have already joined and there would be great advantages if they joined, an "in your face until you join" method.
Scapegoating: uses guilt to blame one certain group without fully investigating the situation
Lesser of two evils: putting up the idea they want to succeed next to an idea that more worse than their idea
Down with the kids: changing away from the entire truth in order to be noticed by a certain group
Assertion: stating something as fact, whether it actually is or not, with enthusiasm, a modern technique in advertisement
Transfer: effort to transfer from what you respect and approve of to whatever the propagandist wants you to respect and approve of
Omission: leaving out certain facts to make something work in favor of a certain way

2) Bandwagon: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vgXL-5z8Cnw; He wants everyone to come together to secure a better future for America.

Scapegoating: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PoPAOFg2Ig8; Ben Carson blames Obama and Hilary Clinton for the melt down in the middle east.

Lesser of two evils: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CqdR6-5_EQ0; He compares what Obama did to what he would have done.

Down with the kids: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IY4y3y_2LOg; He's specifically doing this to get people who are against planned parenthood on his side.

Assertion: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=be-WFguCaX8; You can't be positive that what he is saying are facts and not just statements of what he believes.

Transfer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q26LCfLtTBA; Tries to transfer your views on religious liberty.

Omission: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYVIu3AHGJ0; He doesn't go into much detail about the events and facts of what he speaks of so for all we know the situations are completely different.

Propaganda; Power and Persuasion

1) The text of any script you have developed including questions that your actors will respond to. In lieu of a script, explain what the dialogue will encompass and who will deliver it.

The only text in my video that i have is a quote I made up and it goes like this: "I may not be the most important person in the world, but I mean something to some people and thats all that matters to me"; this quote is just explaining on how while I might not be the most important person in the world, I'm not completely obsolete.
2) If your project is narrated, attach the text of the narration and explain the relationship of the narrator to the project. .

It is not narrated.
3) List the elements that will make up your project: Photos, old video, current video (shot specifically for the project), graphical slides, textual slides, animation, etc.

I had a lot of old videos from my childhood, but I do plan to have some more current video of friends talking about me and all that jazz.
4) List the music that will make up your score, include a link(s) to the music.

I have one song that will be in the background of the video the whole time and that song is American Pe by Don McLean:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uAsV5-Hv-7U
5) List what you have accomplished so far (how you have spent the last several class periods).

I have accomplished so far 3 minutes and 8 seconds of video, so far its
just all home videos and soon once I collect all the current footage, I will be adding them in through out the video.
6) List anything that you have digitized, downloaded, photographed or filmed to be incorporated into your project.

I have 12 videos that each have around an hour long of footage over a period of time, so around 12 hours of footage in general, thats a lot of childhood.

7) Write a brief synopsis of your video.  Explain the point of view, the plot line, whether it is being played as a parody or straight, who the characters are and if there are any plot twists. Complete the following statement: The premise of my video is that I matter because:

The point of view of my video, is I guess who ever was behind the camera, which most of the time was my parents. The plot line is straight and there aren't "characters", its just me and my family and friends and there are also no plot twists. The premise of my video is that I matter because I mean something to others and I have had a great life and that is due to the people around me and I am practically just showing how my parents and family must of thought I wasn't obsolete if the took the time to video me and my life.

Political Correctness

I think there is a place for political correctness in contemporary filmmaking and that is only because contemporary filmmaking is to do with modern times and political correctness is an issue that is currently modern, everyone is bashing on each other, so it wouldn't be incorrect if a contemporary film did have political correctness in it.

PRINCESS BRIDE

What surprised you most about the end of the movie? What surprised me most about the ending was that Humperdinck did not die, I wanted that man to die.

What were there parts of The Princess Bride you found suspenseful? Realistic? Humorous? Romantic? A part I found suspenseful was when Inigo Montoya was battling Count Rugen. A realistic part was when the little boy didn't like the kissing scenes. A humorous scene was when Westley couldn't move his body so Fezzik just had to carry him around. A romantic part was when Westley and Buttercup were reunited all the times that they were.

Do you have any memories of your parents reading to you when you were young? What types of books did you enjoy most? Have you revisited any of your childhood favorites in recent years? I have vague memories of being read to as a little child. I remember reading books like Go Dog Go, Harold and the Purple Crayon, and Corduroy. I have no revisited my childhood favorites for a long time.

Who in the movie did you most identify with and why? I identify mostly with Westley most because everything he does seems to be improvised and I really connect to that seeing as I improvise almost everything I do.

Is the portrayal of Buttercup misogynistic? Is there a pattern in the way that women are portrayed in The Princess Bride? What are stereotypes about masculinity in The Princess Bride? What are the qualities of good men? The portrayal of Buttercup misogynistic and it is like that for all the women in The Princess Bride. Stereotypes of masculinity in the movies are things like they are the higher power, they are stronger, and that they are smarter. The qualities of good men are smart and funny and strong-hearted.

Think about the role of Fezzik in the movie. Andre the Giant played Fezzik. Andre had a syndrome called acromegaly, This condition is a result of excess growth hormone produced by the anterior pituitary gland, and it can result in disfigurement, giganticism, and premature death. Do you think it’s acceptable to use characters such as giants and dwarves in movies and television shows? Should they be defined by their physical appearance onscreen? I think it is acceptable only if the actor is okay with being portrayed as the stereotype. No one should be defined by their physical appearance onscreen or offscreen.

What do the characters’ actions say about perseverance? What motivates them? Do you think internal or external motivation is more important in accomplishing goals? The characters' actions say about perseverance is that in the end it is totally worth all the pain and torture. What motivates them is love and revenge. I think that internal motivation is more important in accomplishing goals because if you're heart isn't fully in what you are doing, you won't do your best.

During the marriage scene, the priest has a speech impediment. Did you find this scene humorous? If so, were you comfortable laughing? I found this scene humorous and I was completely comfortable laughing but I wasn't laughing at the man because of his disability, I was laughing at the irony of the situation.

Many characters in the novel are the best in the world at something. What is Westley the best at? Westley was best at being a pirate and he was also the best at being a total heartthrob.

When we first meet Inigo and Fezzik, they are working with Vizzini to kidnap Buttercup. Later, they become allies of Westley in his efforts to rescue her. What causes Inigo and Fezzik to change . . . or do they really change at all over the course of the novel? I think that just in general Inigo and Fezzik always knew in the back of their mind that helping Vizzini was wrong and after meeting both Buttercup and Westley I think they decided to actually take action and be with the good side because they always felt like that is where they should be but before they didn't really have a place to go so they just went bad.

When Westley confronts Humperdink, he says that he won’t fight to the death but to the pain. Is it crueler to kill someone or leave them alive in their pain? I think it is crueler to leave someone alive in their pain because in my opinion death is just an easy escape from the world and your problems.

Discuss the story Westley tells about the Dread Pirate Roberts. How does this tale within the tale influence your interest in Westley? Is he still the same farm boy from the beginning of the book? This tale within the tale influences my interest in Westley because it shows that he is just more than just what meets the eye. He is not at all to being the same farm boy from the beginning of the book, his character has built up much more than just a boy who says "as you wish".

How should The Princess Bride ultimately be categorized: Satire? Adventure? Romance? Fantasy? Is the title ironic? Does it imply a tame love story or a traditional piece of children’s literature? The Princess Bride ultimately should be categorized as a adventure because an adventure can have many elements to it including love because everyone knows that love is an adventure. The title is ironic and it implies a tame love story more than a traditional piece of children's literature.

My Dad's New Website

Three emotions that I recognize are joy, surprise, and love. The joy comes from the kid as he runs around the beach. The surprise comes from the birds as a crazy kid comes running  towards them, I'd be quite surprised as well. And the love comes from the viewer as they watch a little kid run around, they could feel love because they love to see kids happy and just the over all vide is lovely.

Movie Endings

1. Monte Carlo: The ending is an explicit ending because in the end all the pieces come together and all the characters get their happy ending and just yes, this movie has been the best movie ever since 5th grade.
2. I would have ended it by having them all get arrested and there would be some funny comedy in jail because that is always great and then they would be released and then it would thus continue with the original ending, I just want to add in that little jail scene.

THE FINAL YEARBOOK PROJECT THINg

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0avoX07gj3A
Our story was about:  John Cena did not preorder his yearbook, thus he did not get one, so he recreated his senior with lamps.

The idea for the story came from: Savannah's brain, she made up the whole thing, memes will ruin this generation.

Percentage of the story concept that I was responsible for: I did all the polaroid pictures, I edited all the lamps on the bodies and then added the background and the polaroid frames and the text.

The protagonist in our story is: The protagonist is John Cena.

The antagonist in our story is: There really isn't an antagonist.

The type of conflict in our story is: The type of conflict is man vs. self, seeing as it was his fault that he did not preorder his yearbook.

The climax of our story is when: The climax of our story is when John Cena realizes that he should of preordered a yearbook.

How does the story resolve itself?: The story resolves itself by John Cena telling the fans to not be like him and preorder their yearbooks.

The resolution of our story is (comic? tragic? etc.)(Describe): The resolution is a tragic resolution because the ending is not in favor of John Cena, seeing as he does not get a yearbook.

List any elements of exposition (Rising Action) in your story: In the exposition, the viewer is exposed to John Cenas make shift yearbook, where all his lamp pictures are. The rising action is John Cena doing the dot dot dot where he is thinking about he should of preordered a yearbook.

Plot, Theme, and the Narrative Arc

Characters: The protagonists of the story are Wallace, Gromit, and the little moon robot. There really weren't any antagonist in the story.

Setting: The setting takes place on the moon.

Mood: The mood is very cheesy, it is playful, making something none tragic seem very tragic.

Conflict: The conflict of the story is that Wallace and Gromit ran out of cheese in the house and they need to get more. Also there is conflict between Wallace and Gromit and the robot.

Resolution: The resolution is a comic resolution because it favors the protagonists seeing has they got a lot of cheese from the moon in the end, and the robot got to ski in the end as well.

Wrong Trousers

Title/Opening Credits: This opening was probably chosen to show how the trousers are bad and 'evil', so by making the shadow of them in the beginning, it really brings like a dramatic flair to the trousers.

Story/Plot/Narrative: A key moment in the film was when the penguin was going for the diamond and the diamond dropped. That whole scene was really suspenseful and made me hold my breath just watching it. A key emotional moment was when Gromit was leaving the house, and the rain was pouring, it was just very dramatic, an made me want to reach out and hug Gromit and just take him in, share the love.

Motif: A motif in the film was always having the angle be from Gromit's POV, just seeing most of the film from his point of view really added emotion into the film because he sees everything going on while Wallace is mostly clueless the whole time.

Characterization: The central characters in the film is Wallace, Gromit, and the penguin. They are what the film is surrounded by. If anything Wallace is more of a minor character versus Gromit and the penguin because they were having the riving conflict while Wallace was more of just a toy in the menace of their conflict.

Scene and Sets: The film is shot on both a set and on digital. The set is really important because it really adds to the story and without it the film wouldn't of been what it is without the set. It really brings out the emotion from Gromit and the wit from the penguin.
